The risk of being killed on the roads is multiple times higher for users of motorcycles than for car drivers. Consequently, the UDV has examined accidents involving motorcycles in a number of research projects and proposed measures that would improve the safety of this vehicle category.
Riders of powered two wheel vehicles (PTWs) are at particular risk of having an accident on the roads. According to the statistics for fatalities by modes of transport of the years 1992 and 2012 the percentage of fatalities among riders of PTWs has almost doubled.Read more.
